SMITHSONIAN NATIONAL EDUCATION SUMMIT WELCOME VIDEOS
The Smithsonian National Education Summit brings together K–12 and museum educators from across the country, offering practical tools, resources, and access to leading voices in education. For the 2026 Summit, the Smithsonian Office of the Under Secretary for Education needed a compelling welcome video to launch the event homepage and drive registration for both in-person and virtual attendance. Having previously produced welcome videos in-house, the team sought a fresh creative approach with elevated production values while maintaining a cohesive, brand-aligned visual identity.
VISUAL & NARRATIVE STRATEGY
We collaborated with the Smithsonian team and their event partners at Linder Global Events through multiple discovery meetings to develop a creative concept designed to reflect the 2026 Summit theme, “Together We Thrive: Towards a More Perfect Union.” To bring the theme to life, we filmed scripted, direct-to-camera messages by Under Secretary for Education Monique Chism on location at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC and dynamic B roll sequences of Dr. Chism exploring iconic pieces throughout the museum, including Bridge and Electronic Superhighway.
To help meet the Smithsonian’s online attendance goals, in the edit we integrated footage from last year’s virtual and in-person programming, to make the summit’s online experience feel just as energizing and worthwhile as attending in person. This approach helped to drum up excitement for the learning opportunities the summit provides while reinforcing its accessibility to educators nationwide.
To ensure accessibility and audience reach, while giving the client team flexible options for distribution, we developed multiple final videos, including both a 90-second and 30-second version, vertical format for social, audio descriptions, and open captions versions..
